BRIEF

For my  AS media coursework I was asked to complete tasks to better my understanding of media and how it work, learning how to film, edit etc.The purpose of this unit is firstly to assess student's
  1. Ability to plan and construct the opening of a film with titles to last no longer than 2 minutes.
  2. Ability to use technical equipment e.g cameras, editing software and display creative skills in pre-production e.g. storyboards, script, treatment
  3. Ability to display knowledge and understanding in evaluating our own film work and showing how meaning and response are created through mise-en-scene (things that is not audible)
  4. Ability to undertake, apply and present appropriate research around the film unit including work around similar text and creating a visual blog.
This is a coursework unit, internally assesses and externally moderated.

The Preliminary task: This task has been completed and it was a success, i was asked (along side my group) to film a short scene in which two characters are having a conversation. It was a way for me to experience filming and editing. In the film the action happening was supposed to be a character opening a door, walking across the room and sitting in the opposite seat to another character, then they both have exchanging lines of dialogue. The task had to demonstrate match on action,shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.

The Main task: For this task,my aim was to produce the titles and opening of a original fiction film that had to last two minutes. The audio and video equipment/material had to be original, making it ourselves from scratch. We was not allowed to copy any music or audio effects from any copyright-free source. However I was in a group of four so it was less stress, and after we was to evaluate our work electronically and individually.
